Learn photography in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Nathan Smith will take you on a relaxing and unforgettable journey through small town Tuscany, as well as the coastal towns of Liguria.
This is NOT a "try to see everything possible in a week" trip, but a relaxed journey to experience Italy photographically, gastronomically, and spiritually. In addition to photographic instruction, we will be teaching you the basics of Adobe Lightroom, so you can get the most out of your images. These workshops are for photographers of ALL levels, and partners or spouses are welcome and will find plenty to do (or not do :)
Planned are two consecutive workshop weeks, of which you may choose to join us for either one or both. In the first week, we will include a stay in a rustic Tuscan villa near Siena, ride an old steam train through the beautiful countryside, and photograph the hills of Tuscany at sunrise and at sunset. For the second week, we will visit the famous leaning tower of Pisa, see the medieval walled city of Lucca, the charming cliffside villages of Cinque Terre, and the charming coastal town of Camogli.
Getting great photographs is a combination of vision, mastering your technique, but also post production skills, which can make all the difference, just like they did with film. We will have a few short classes during the week, some in the field, and at least one or two critiques to really help you improve your photography, as well as computer time in Lightroom (by Adobe, this professional but easy to use Photoshop program is designed specifically for photographers). You'll learn how to improve a photograph in less than 60 seconds, quickly and easily. Customized individual help will also be available. For pros and advanced photographers, we'll cover some Photoshop techniques, as well as other software to raise the bar. You'll learn to get the most out of your camera, your lenses, travel photography tips, as well as taking great portraits. We'll teach you how to do HDR (high dynamic range) photographs, as well as beautiful panoramas.
Included is all ground transportation from our starting to our ending points, accommodations, all breakfasts and 2 dinners per week, and all instruction and fun. Airfare, tips, and incidentals are not included. In addition to your camera equipment, a laptop is recommended, as well as Adobe Lightroom. We'll even teach you how to get great photographs with your Smartphone!
Spouses or partners who are not photographically inclined are welcome to join us, as there will be optional activities such as cooking classes, relaxing by the pool or sea, possible horseback riding, and world-class shopping. There will be plenty of time for private romantic moments, intimate little shops, and just savoring these small rustic Italian villages. You'll come home with not only amazing images, but great memories and newfound skills that will improve your photography for the rest of your life.
